From Vienna to Visseltofta

The countryside is the place to be. Inspired by the legendary Black Mountain College, Johan Ahlkvist, Hedda Bauer and Charlotta Öberg work together on an old dairy farm in Visseltofta in Sweden that they slowly transform into a place for artists’ residencies. They are all artists with a strong connection to textile crafts and to the countryside and in their work, they incorporate queer theoretical topics and participation. Summer 2020, the young artists, with a focus on performance, sculpture and spatial design, and studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, opened The Path at the Swedish Loom Museum not far from their own “art farm”. Next stop on the journey is Zurich. On October 6, the must see performance Dynamic Resistance by Johan Ahlkvist and Hedda Bauer takes place at another storied site, Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, the site of the birth of Dadaism and still going strong.
